Car and Keys Crime Continues

Following on from one of the many stories we have of thieves breaking into houses to steel the keys to your vehicle, this month I have picked an e-mail from Roland Fawcett of North Yorkshire, he describes the added violation of being broken into as well as having his car stolen.

"We recently bought a two year old second hand Subaru WRX. This has been my dream car for 9 years and finally I had the no claims, the age and funds to buy one. I was impressed by the level of security on our car, which convinced me we should be able to hang onto it. We live in a nice area of North Yorkshire and managed to hang onto the car for 3 days! Our house was broken into in the early morning through a top bedroom window whilst we were sleeping. Our house was turned over before they finally found the keys (without our knowledge as we were unaware of the intruders in our house) and off went our beautiful metalic blue WRX along with our laptop computer, credit cards and mobile phone to boot.

My two year old son was asleep yards from where these thugs were wandering about our house. We both feel sick, violated, unsafe in our house and cannot believe the lengths these people will go to. This is a sinister and very disturbing new development in car crime which will end up with people being killed in their houses for the sake of their car and requires urgent action from the Police and Government. Buyers of such cars beware - my short-lived dream has turned into a nightmare."

The good news is that Roland has since informed us that the car has now been found in one piece and is currently being examined by Forensics.
